Double War has quickly become a new class favorite!
Double War started out as a work job during center time and quickly became a favorite game at the math center. It is a spin-off of the traditional game of war but with a challenging twist. Thanks to games like Double War, the children love coming to the math center. While playing this game, the children are adding and comparing numbers. Who knew that math could be so much fun!
The fun with Double War doesn't have to stop when center time is over. Here is how you can play Double War at home with your child.
Materials needed:
2 decks of regular playing cards (Ace - 6)
*The Ace will be the number 1*
How to Play:
Mix up the cards and deal them all out face down.
Each player turns over two cards and adds them together.
The player with the highest sum wins all of the cards for that turn.
If the sum of both players is the same, a war occurs. To settle the war, you each turn over two more cards and add them together. The player with the highest sum wins all of the cards that have been played in that turn.
The game is over when the players run out of cards!
