Congratulations to Andrew! He is our Explorer of the Month for September. At our class meeting, everyone decided that Andrew has met all of the characteristics of a CWES Explorer. He is good friend, makes good choices, acts safely and follows the rules! Andrew's picture will be on display by the library for the whole school to see.

Talk Like a Pirate...Part 3
We finished our pirate fun with a round of 25 Treasure Chests. Even though Talk Like a Pirate Day is officially over, I have a feeling that this math game will be played for a long time!
Talk Like a Pirate...Part 2
After all our pirate mates were accounted for, we started the day with some great pirate books. One of our favorites was Shiver Me Letters. After reading this book, I gave the class their first pirate challenge. The class had to fill the treasure chest with letters! If they we couldn't find all 26, they would have to have a consequence fit for a pirate! Everyone searched their magazine pages high and low trying to find all 26 letters.
In the end, we only found 23 of the 26 letters....so it was off to walk the plank and plunge off of Dead Man's Cliff!
Talk Like a Pirate Day...Part 1
We kicked off our 100 Book Club and Accelerated Reader with Talk Like a Pirate Day! Everyone looked great in their pirate costumes. Were were definitely in for some swashbuckling fun!
