How Many Letters Are In Your Name?

We read the book Chrysanthemum, by Kevin Henkes this week.  In this book we learned that "Chrysanthemum's name was spelled with thirteen letters. That is exactly half as many letters as there are in the entire alphabet."  This got us thinking about our names.  We wandered how many letters were in our names.  We also made predictions on who we thought would have the most letters and who would have the least letters in their names.  This is how we found out...

We discovered that Ian had the least letters in his name and Kynidee had the most letters in her name.  We also discovered that most of the friends in our class have 6 letters in their names.

Meeting Cutie and the Frogs

The children came to school on Tuesday to a HUGE surprise.  Cutie, our class hamster, had returned from her summer vacation.  Many of the children were beside themselves with excitement!  Then, on Wednesday morning, another HUGE surprise arrived.  Our 3 frogs, Tad, Swimmy and Froggie came back from their summer vacation.  The children are very excited to learn about our class pets.  I know that they will do a great job taking care of them!

Each day, our helper gets to feed the pets.

Mrs. Sanders, Mrs. Sanders Who Do You See?

We wrote our first class book called, Mrs. Sanders, Mrs. Sanders Who Do You See?  The children worked so hard to illustrate their page.  I know that this book will be a class favorite!  I can't wait to put it in the reading loft so that the children can enjoy their very own book!

The 1st Few Days of Kindergarten

Our first few days of kindergarten have been awesome!  We knew it was going to be a great year when our magic play dough turned colors!

We've also been very busy making new friends and exploring our classroom during Center Time!
