February's Explorer of the Month

It's that time again...time to name a new Explorer of the Month!  During this month's class discussion, several names were brought up.  However, after a quick discussion, the class named Kimberly as our Explorer of the Month for February.  Congratulations Kimberly!  We are so proud of you.

World Read Aloud Day

We celebrated World Read Aloud Day with several special guest readers.  Our first reader was an Auburn firefighter named Cody.  He came dressed in his uniform and on the fire truck.  That was a big hit! He read, Click, Clack Surprise! and the class LOVED it!

Our Second guest reader was Coach Jason Halverson.  He teaches Spanish at Drake Middle School.  The children loved his sombrero.  They also loved the book, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

100th Day of Kindergarten

We had a great time celebrating the 100th Day of Kindergarten!  Our 100 year old ladies and gentlemen came dressed for the occasion!

Even the teachers got in on the dressing up fun!

We started our celebration by making a special snack with 100 pieces.

We enjoyed a few great stories while we ate our special snack.  Our favorite 100 Day Book was Mrs. Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten!

January's Explorer of the Month

Congratulations Riona!  Our class named Riona as January's Explorer of the Month.  Her name had been brought up a few months ago, but Riona thought that she still had a few things to work on.  However, this time, it didn't take long before everyone agreed that Riona met all of the qualities we look for in an Explorer of the Month!

December's Explorer of the Month

Congratulations Sophia!  During our class meeting, Sophia was chosen as our next Explorer of the Month.  It is getting tougher and tougher to name Explorers of the Month.  However, after our class discussion, Sophia was named as our new Explorer of the Month.  According to her peers, they said that Sophia was a good friend, tried to be safe and took care of the things in our classroom.  Congratulations Sophia!  We are so proud of you!

Kinder Camp Out

We had an amazing time at our Kinder Camp Out!  The look on the children's faces when they walked in this morning and saw the tents and stars was priceless!  They were so excited about our Camp Out and it was definitely the perfect way to kick off our "Big Backyard" Theme.

I even rearranged the things in our home-living center to make the entire room a campsite!

All day long, we camped and had lots of fun!  Each classroom was set up with a camping rotation.

We know from our research that you tell stories around the campfire.  So, for our first rotation, we had Story Time Under the Stars!

Next, we went outside to sing songs around the campfire!

We were so lucky to have Mrs. Herndon be our camp guide and lead our songs!

Next, we made a Camp Out book so that we could remember all of the fun we were having!

All of the camping fun was starting to make us hungry.  So, we made the best snack you can make when you go camping...S'mores!

After such a delicious snack, we realized that it was time for a picnic lunch!  I guess when you go camping you get to eat your desserts before your food!

You never know what kind of wildlife you might run into when you go camping.  Today, we found out that snakes and lizards are not as scary as we thought...well, at least when Mrs. Cooper is holding them!
