After all our pirate mates were accounted for, we started the day with some great pirate books. One of our favorites was Shiver Me Letters. After reading this book, I gave the class their first pirate challenge. The class had to fill the treasure chest with letters! If they we couldn't find all 26, they would have to have a consequence fit for a pirate! Everyone searched their magazine pages high and low trying to find all 26 letters.
In the end, we only found 23 of the 26 letters....so it was off to walk the plank and plunge off of Dead Man's Cliff!
